July 22, 2021

The Meeting was called to order by President Kowolonek, via Zoom Platform (due to COVID-19.)

The Pledge of Allegiance occurred.

A moment of Silence was observed for deceased members of UWUA Local 600.

Roll call was taken by Vice-President Hoffman.  Delegate Wright absent (vacation), all other board members present.

A motion was made by Delegate McLaughlin to omit the reading of the minutes from June 24, 2021 and for all to review copy of minutes received via email draft for approval.  Second by Delegate Victoria King.  Motion passed.  Approved.   A copy of Minutes will be posted on the Local 600 website.  www.uwualocal600.com

The financial Report was given by President Kowolonek.  A motion was made by Vice-President Hoffman to except the reading of the financial report by President Kowolonek.  Second by Delegate Jason King.  Discussion: Good month on stock portfolio.   Motion passed. Approved.  Copy of the Financial Report is on file at Local 600 office.

Unfinished Business – President Kowolonek

  • Local 600 Training – will be held, Friday 30 July 2021 at the Covington Courtyard by Marriott on 3rd Street.  Social distance protocols will be in place.   Meet & Greet starting at 8am – 8:15am.   Guest will be in attendance, Steve Wyatt (& family), Kelly Cooper and Greg Adams from Local 175.  Boxed l, along with beverages.
  • UWUA National Region 3 Organizing Committee – contact Local 600 office if interested.
  • Remote Work – discussion regarding how will schedules and number of days worked be decided within each work group.  Classified seniority within each work group will be used to determine.
  • NEW BUSINESS
  • Zimmer Generating Station – President Kowolonek – Will be closing ahead of schedule it has been announced, May 31, 2022.  President Kowolonek will be meeting with management to discuss this transition.
  • Inter- Union Gas Conference – President Kowolonek – Conference will be held October 3 – 8 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The following Local 600 Board members will be in attendance – President Kowolonek, Secretary Wallace, Delegates, McLaughlin, Long, Knight, J. King & V. King.
  • Grievance # 445 – Treasurer Loerich – Unfair Discipline
  • REPORT OF OFFICERS, DELEGATES AND COMMITTEE
  • President Kowolonek – Taxes – Discussed with Human Resources and regarding should membership who are working from home use work location (home) for tax filing instead of City of Cincinnati.  The home location should be utilized.  Membership should ensure that the home location (work location is being used and not City of Cincinnati.)
  • President Kowolonek- Discussed sending a letter to Management regarding when membership would be expected to make the transition from working from home, back into office.  Discussion updates from Duke-Energy – Lynn Good.
  • Vice-President Hoffman – To Re-scheduled By-Laws committee meeting, will send notification update.
  • Secretary Wallace – UWUA Women’s Caucus up-coming training.  Encourage anyone in membership with an interest in forming a Local 600 chapter to contact Delegate Holly McLaughlin, or Secretary Wallace.  The Local 600 Women’s Caucus is looking for an opportunity to serve in our local community.  Anyone with ideas or suggestions is also asked to send recommendations to us.  Membership is also encouraged to visit the Local 600 website.
  • Delegate V. King – Still awaiting Fact Finding information.

Delegate Knight made a motion to adjourn.  Second by Delegate J. King.  Meeting adjourned.
