The Meeting was called to order by President, via teleconference (due to COVID-19.)

The Pledge of Allegiance occurred.

A moment of Silence was observed for deceased members of UWUA Local 600.

Swearing in Area “B” Delegate – Lovell Knight and Area “A” Delegate Camille Waller – President Kowolonek.  (C. Waller was not available for the swearing in process, this will be done at later date.)

Roll call was taken by Treasurer Loerich. Delegate Waller absent.  All other board members present.

A motion was made by Vice-President Hoffman to dispense with the reading of last month’s minutes.    Second by Delegate McLaughlin.   Motion passed.  Secretary Wallace will be provided “draft copy” of minutes to board members prior to meetings, during meetings held via teleconference.

Financial report was read by Treasurer Loerich.  A motion was made by Vice-President Hoffman to accept the financial report.  Second by Delegate Knight.  Motion passed.  Copy of the financial report is on file at the Local 600 office.     

Communications – President Kowolonek

Email dated 10 November 2020 was sent to Duke-Energy, Labor Relations regarding Call Center volunteers and New Hire training classes.  Discussion:  How many students can be provided training with the COVID restrictions.   

Unfinished Business –President Kowolonek

  • Call Center – Due to high volume calls to call center a training class was provided for volunteers, however no classes scheduled for actual (New Hires) President Kowolonek will schedule a meeting with management to discuss.
  • Ronald McDonald House – Left a message for UWUA Local 600 thanking us for the donation that was made to this local charity.
  • Audit Committee – An audit of UWUA Local 600 was completed by the Local 600 Audit Committee on 5 November 2020.  Perry Hill, President, Susan Meyer and Stephanie Bailer, Committee members.  A copy of the audit committee findings is on file at the Local 600 office.
  • UWUA Local 600  Women’s Caucus – A donation was made to Matthew 25 Ministries, Cincinnati, Ohio in the amount of $800 from funds raised during the UWUA National Women’s Caucus – Rosie the Riveter – Run/Walk to raise monies for local charity who are providing COVID-19 support within the local communities.  The donation was presented by Delegate McLaughlin, Secretary Wallace and President Kowolonek on 17 November 2020.    


  • President Kowolonek – discussions with Vestra – Labor Relations.
  • President Kowolonek – discussed General Board Meeting and Membership meetings – regarding changes for 2021 regarding times of meetings and dates.  More information will be forth coming and if changes made will notify all board members and representative and ensure information is posted to all union boards. 
  • President Kowolonek – Per Capita Increase – there will be an automatic increase of $1.20 (every two weeks.)  Information will be posted to all union boards the 1st week of December 2020.
  • Vice- President Hoffman – will continue to aid the newly appointed Treasurer.  Is grateful for Treasurer Loerich stepping up to assume the new role and duties assigned.
  • Secretary Wallace – UWUA Local 600 would like to hear from anyone who would like to participate in the Local 600 Women’s Caucus.  Please contact Delegate McLaughlin, myself or Local 600 Union Hall regarding your interest. 
  • Delegate Knight – looking forward to being of assistance to those in the membership.
  • Delegate McLaughlin – for the National UWUA Women’s Caucus – they will have the Women’s Caucus Calendars on sale for $20 to raise funds for training.  There will be a scheduled Zoom meeting for the UWUA National Women’s Caucus on 16 December 2020.
  • Delegate Wright – Discussion regarding follow-up regarding opportunities for training and new hires within Duke-Energy.  Also discussed Brecon/Todhunter positions.  Thanks to the Local 600 Women’s Caucus and their efforts.
